BOOSTER MEETING MINUTES

- Fundraising by Dawn Hill
- Gold cards were a success
- Cheesecake sale begins 09/09/08. Orders due on 09/23/08. Do not collect money until you deliver cheesecakes. They should be in before Thanksgiving.
- Birmingham News Fundraiser. Football Season Special ends October 30th. $39.00 for new subscribers for six months to receive Wed, Fri, Sat & Sun paper. $25.00 will go to the band. If everyone in the band could sell one subscription, it would be over $3,000 for the band.

- Concessions by Wayne Lloyd
- Concessions are in full swing for football season. This is our biggest form of support for the band. Need concession stand workers.
Finance
- Reports not complete because of transition to new treasurer, Crystal Buzbee.
- Previous treasurer had to resign because she worked for the school and no employee of the school system can be a member of a booster board.
- All money earned on school grounds must go through the school account.
- All money earned off school grounds will go into the band booster private account.
- Will have complete report by next month’s booster meeting which will be conducted at the new high school band room.

Directors’ Report
Brandon Peters, Middle School Director
- Middle School band will be moving into the old high school band room in December. Will need help with this move. Please contact Mr. Peters if you can help.
- T-Shirt Order form for middle school t-shirts will go home on 09/09/08. Shirts are $10.00 each and parents can order one if they want.
- Check out M.S. blog at HTMSband.blogspot.com.
- Beginner band is improving.
- Concert and Symphonic bands have already played at 3 M.S. football games and have 2 more games and 1 or 2 more pep rallies to perform at.
Stephanie Ezell, H.S. Concert Band Director and Auxiliary Coordinator
- Auxiliary practice in full swing.
- Starting new tradition for senior members of the band. This year for homecoming the band will perform as always before the game, but the seniors will be allowed to leave the game early to change for the dance. The 8th grade band members will be asked to fill in for the seniors in the stands for the rest of the game.
- Will begin pass offs for Moon Dance tomorrow 9/9/08 for auxiliary. Members are given opportunity to rehab if they need extra work. They will be given several chances to pass off up until the 1st run-thru on Thursday.
- Concert band is working on scales and project sight read. They will rehearse on their own and then perform before an audience.

Scott Waid, H.S. Marching Band and Symphonic Band Director
- Pleased to have Mr. Peters as new M.S. band director. Mr. Peters also helps with the high school marching band and has added a younger perspective to the band this year.
- Thanks to Ms. Ezell for doing a wonderful job with the auxiliary this year as always.
- Thanks to Dawn Hill who did a great job with the gold card sale and put in a lot of hard work.
- Half-time show is ahead of schedule and we should perform the entire show this Friday at the Pell City game.
- Band should be at the game at 4:40 on Friday for run-thru.
- October 5th is the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new high school. The Fine Arts Center is one of the best in the State. There are two band rooms, a large and a small, six practice rooms, jazz band room, auxiliary room with high ceiling to toss flags and dance floor, mirror and ballet bar.
- Will move in new high school on 10/13/08. Need help boxing music and packing equipment
- The middle school will move in December and will also need help
- Band pictures were delivered today. If you have any problems with the pictures, please let us know
- Symphonic band is preparing for Veteran’s Day assembly
- Fall concert will be in early November at new high school in the new auditorium which now seats 1,200
- Marching Contest are scheduled as follows:
October 4, 2008 Oneonta
October 11, 2008 Prattville
October 18, 2008 Hoover at Regions Park
