Officer Reports

Fundraising by Dawn Hill

• Dawn was unable to attend and Joe Connally stated the Santa at the Christmas was a success. Thanks to Dawn Hill for making it all possible.
  

Concessions by Wayne Lloyd

• Football is over and nothing to report.

Finance

• Lugenia was unable to attend. The financial report will be available via e-mail if anyone would like a copy.

Director’s Reports

Mike Homes, Middle School Director

• Thanks for band booster Christmas gift.
• Successful Christmas concert. Thanks for attending and to all those that stayed for the Middle School concerts. It meant a lot to the band members to see a crowd.
• The tubas that have been reconditioned have been returned and the tuba players acted like it was Christmas. These are for the beginner band students and are pleased with “new” tubas.
• The Middle School Symphonic Band will play along with the High School Symphonic band at Payne Intermediate on December 14th at 9:00 and 10:00 for the students.
• When questioned about the number of Beginner Band students the answer was 142.   

Stephanie Ezell, H.S. Concert Band Director and Auxiliary Coordinator

• Thanks for band booster Christmas gift.
• Due to a dance team commitment Mr. Waid gave Mrs. Ezell’s report.
• Each student is required to pass off 3 pages for an “A” this semester. The students know which books they are in and can explain.
• Per Ms. Hogan, the band is required to have exams. The Concert Band has been given a study sheet for the exam.
• Students can check out after exams. One note from a parent will give permission for all exam days.
• Auxiliary parent meeting is 1/15/08 in the High School Band Room at 7:00PM. As in the past a parent must attend for the student to try out.
• Color Guard Clinic is 2/15/08 and 2/19/08 through 2/22/08 and tryouts are on 2/23/08.
• Highstepper clinic is 2/25/08 though 2/29/08 with tryouts on 3/1/08.
• Auxiliary requirements are posted in the band room.       

Scott Waid, H.S. Marching Band and Symphonic Band Director

• Thanks for band booster Christmas gift.
• Great Christmas concert and the crowd was good. The parade was nice.
• Thanks to Jerome Grey for building a new podium. There’s lots of room and it is stable.
• Symphonic Band and Jazz band will perform at Payne Intermediate on 12/14. Chaperones are needed as we will take them to a fast food place for lunch. Still undecided on uniforms bust most likely no uniforms, just festive attire.
• We had 3 students in the UAB Honor Band, Mary Hoffman, Erin Besheres, and Katie Boswell. Congratulations to these 3 for their work.
• Pep Band has performances at two basketball games this week. Tuesday and Thursday.
• Spring Trip
• Flyer to be posted on web site.
• Need Chaperones.
• 4/23/08 through 4/27/08.
• All band members and Auxiliaries.
• See flyer for details.
• All meals included including giving money out at fast food on the way home.
• We have asked for the parade at the Magic Kingdom.
• We will work with payment schedule due to holidays but please make any type deposit as a commitment.
• We will leave Wednesday evening around 7:00 and drive all night, arriving the next morning.
